I am starting that work today with the educational breakdowns below. Have a question about how Castle Rock operates or a topic you’d like me to cover? Email me anytime!

We all know the relief of living in a town where our kids can safely ride their bikes and play in the neighborhood without constant worry. That peace of mind doesn't happen by accident. It takes intentional strategy, proactive police culture, and smart technology.
I recently met with Police Chief Jack Cauley and Deputy Chief Sam Varela for an in-depth discussion on CRPD operations, local growth trends, and the ongoing priorities that keep our families safe every day.
Campaign slogans don't keep our neighborhoods safe. What actually works is listening to the professionals hired to do the work, trusting their counsel, and giving them the support they need as Castle Rock continues to grow.
Key takeaways from our discussion:
● "One-By-One" Policing: Chief Cauley’s core philosophy focuses on personal connections and community trust, resolving issues before they ever escalate into dangerous situations.
● Smart Tools as Force Multipliers: Modern tools like Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) and 3D drone mapping help officers locate stolen vehicles and clear traffic incidents fast; leveraging technology to maximize efficiency.
● Protecting What We Have: Keeping low crime as our town expands requires competitive officer retention, smart capital planning, and reliable funding so emergency response times stay fast across all of Castle Rock.
Sitting down with department leadership reaffirmed what so many of us already value about CRPD: exceptional safety isn't luck. It is the direct result of disciplined planning, intentional culture, and strong community partnerships.
Thank you to Chief Cauley and Deputy Chief Varela for their time, leadership, and unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe.

Did you know CRPD, CDOT, and CSP avoid shutting down I-25 whenever they can? Only the most serious injuries or hazardous conditions trigger an extended closure of the interstate.
When I-25 shuts down or backs up through Castle Rock, our first responders and traffic engineers do not have to guess what to do. As shown in the infographic, they already execute a clear technology-driven protocol, ranging from drone scene mapping to automated signal flushing on Meadows Pkwy and US-85.
Effective municipal leadership isn't about repackaging existing operational manuals as brand-new campaign ideas. It’s about taking those existing protocols and focusing on what comes next: expanding regional CDOT coordination, securing long-term infrastructure funding, and ensuring our local side streets can actually support community growth when detours happen.

Ever wonder who actually hires Castle Rock police officers, firefighters, and town staff? It’s not Town Council.
In Castle Rock’s Council-Manager system, Town Council sets broad policy and allocates the overall town budget. The Town Manager is hired by Council to oversee daily operations, while department heads manage hiring, staffing, and individual salaries.
Why does this structure matter? Because when Town Council stays focused on high-level strategy, like securing long-term water rights and funding emergency services, rather than micromanaging departments, our tax dollars get used far more effectively.
Good leadership starts with knowing your role. Leaders who conflate policy-making with daily administration create chaos, stall key projects, and misuse public resources. Knowing how the system works isn't just administrative detail, it's the foundation of effective governance.
Community isn’t built on party platforms or political soundbites. It is built right on the street where you live by the people who show up every day to do the work.
As a conservative, I believe in limited government, personal responsibility, and the principle that local decisions are best made by the neighbors who live with the results. Broad national slogans do not directly benefit our community. Working together for common-sense, practical solutions does. Local leadership should always focus on fiscal accountability, steady governance, and protecting Castle Rock's quality of life.
I approach community service as a long-time resident, a teacher, and a neighbor who is ready to do the heavy lifting. My commitment to our town is straightforward: listen to every resident, protect taxpayer dollars, and keep local leadership focused strictly on serving Castle Rock.
